For parents

A reading life for the languages your child carries — or wants to discover.

If your family lives across more than one language — whether through heritage, life abroad, or by deliberate choice — finding good children's books in all of them is hard. The same beloved story exists in one of your languages and not the other. The voice your child hears in books is from one of your worlds, not the one they're actually growing up in.

BookCloud is being built to fill that gap. The same illustrated stories, the same characters, the same pages — bilingual and dual-language, in the languages your child is growing into. Switch between them book by book, bedtime by bedtime.

In practice

Different families, different reasons, same companion.

Multi-heritage families. Your child speaks Turkish with you, French with their other parent, English at school. The same beloved book sits on their shelf in all three languages — same illustrations, same characters, same pacing. Read tonight in Turkish; tomorrow in French.

Families living abroad. You moved last year. Your child is at a school where they speak a language you barely understand. Bedtime is the one moment of the day that's still in your language — and now there are books in the new one too, ready when your child is.

Families opening new doors. Maybe you want your child to grow up with a language no one in the family yet speaks — or you're simply curious about another culture together. BookCloud reads each story aloud — a warm, expressive voice picked to fit the book — so your child can listen, and you can learn alongside them.

Find books in your language

Start in your family's language.

We're adding languages one by one. Here's where we are so far — open the one your family reads in.

Safe by design

A reading product, not an attention product.

The hardest thing about children's apps isn't what they show your child. It's what they do to your child's attention. BookCloud is built on the line between those.

  • No ads. Not in the books, not between them, not anywhere your child can see.

  • No games. No points, no streaks, no rewards engineered to keep your child opening the app.

  • No hooks. No notifications designed to pull your child back, no design engineered to extend time in the app for its own sake.

  • No social. No comments, no likes, no presence by other users at all.

Reading time should be calm time. We don't believe that's a niche position. We think it's the only honest one for a children's product.

How we level books

We level the book, never your child.

Every book really asks two questions, and we keep them apart: is this story for my child — what it's about — and can my child read it alone, how tricky the words are. They often don't line up, and that's the good part: a book a little above their level, read together, is one of the best things you can give a young reader. The level describes the book, and it's there for you — never a score on your child.

Browse by what they love — animals, friendship, bedtime — and find books that mirror your child's own life as well as windows onto someone else's.

'Raju's First Flight' in the BookCloud app, with a plain reading note: the story suits ages 4–6, but the words read more like 6–8 — lovely to share aloud — and the languages it can be read and heard in
A reading note in plain words — who the book is for, and how ready your child is to read it on their own.

We made it for our family. You're welcome to it too.

BookCloud is a free app for iOS and Android — open the library, read together, switch languages book by book. We're still adding more books, language by language.

Tap below to get it — we'll show you where things are and tell you the moment it lands on Google Play too. And if you're a native speaker who could help review a translation, or you just want to tell us what your family is missing, say hello.
